Abstract

Penggunaan ponsel pintar telah menjadi bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari kehidupan Generasi Z. Kemudahan dalam berkomunikasi, memperoleh informasi, serta mengakses berbagai layanan digital menyebabkan ponsel pintar digunakan hampir di seluruh aktivitas harian. Namun, penggunaan ponsel pintar yang semakin intens juga dapat memunculkan parasaan cemas dan tidak nyaman berlebihan ketika individu tidak dapat mengakses ponsel pintarnya. Kondisi ini merupakan suatu fenomena fobia situasional baru yang dikenal dengan istilah nomophobia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara need for affiliation dan personality traits dengan kecenderungan nomophobia pada Generasi Z di Surabaya. Populasi penelitian terdiri atas Generasi Z berusia 17 – 25 tahun yang aktif menggunakan ponsel pintar dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Sebanyak 270 partisipan dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling berdasarkan tabel Krejcie and Morgan. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi skala Interpersonal Orientation Scale untuk mengukur need for affiliation, skala personality traits, serta Nomophobia Questionnaire untuk mengukur kecenderungan nomophobia. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa need for affiliation serta dimensi openness to experience, extraversion, dan agreeableness memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan kecenderungan nomophobia. Sedangkan dimensi conscientiousness dan neuroticism tidak menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa need for affiliation dan beberapa dimensi personality traits berhubungan dengan kecenderungan nomophobia pada Generasi Z di Surabaya.
