Variasi Diet Menginduksi Perubahan BMI dan Hipertrofi Lemak Viseral Ikan Zebra Betina (Danio rerio)

Introduksi : Obesitas merupakan kondisi metabolik yang ditandai dengan penumpukan lemak berlebih dan dapat dimodelkan menggunakan hewan coba ikan zebra betina (Danio rerio). Penelitian bertujuan membandingkan pengaruh berbagai variasi induksi diet terhadap perubahan Body Mass Index (BMI) dan hipertrofi lemak viseral pada ikan zebra betina (Danio rerio).
Metode : Penelitian eksperimental ini menggunakan ikan zebra betina (Danio rerio) jumlah sample (n = 6) dan terdapat empat kelompok perlakuan, yaitu (P) pelet (3,5% berat badan), (KP) kolesterol + pelet (5% berat badan), (KTP) kuning telur + pelet (5% berat badan), dan (A) artemia (6-7% berat badan). Pemeliharaan ikan dilakukan selama 28 hari dengan pemberian pakan tiga kali sehari, pergantian air satu jam setelah pemberian pakan. Penimbangan berat badan dilakukan menggunakan timbangan analitik dengan satuan gram, sedangkan pengukuran panjang badan dilakukan menggunakan kertas milimeter dengan ukuran 1 kotak besar setara 1 cm. Pengukuran dilakukan pada awal penelitian (minggu ke-0) dan akhir penelitian (28 hari) untuk menentukan nilai Body Mass Index (BMI), sedangkan pengamatan histologis dilakukan untuk menganalisis hipertrofi lemak viseral.
Hasil dan diskusi : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh variasi diet mampu meningkatkan nilai Body Mass Index (BMI) ikan zebra betina (Danio rerio) hingga mencapai kategori obesitas (BMI ≥ 0,05). Namun, peningkatan Body Mass Index (BMI) antar kelompok perlakuan (P:0,08; KTP:0,07; KP:0,07, A:0,07) (p>0,05). Hipertrofi lemak viseral pada seluruh kelompok perlakuan (P:220; KTP:220; KP:214; A:218) tidak signifikan.
Kesimpulan : Perlakuan diet pelet dan kuning telur + pelet menunjukkan pengaruh yang lebih besar terhadap peningkatan Body Mass Index (BMI) dan hipertrofi lemak viseral dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya, sehingga berpotensi untuk digunakan sebagai induksi untuk membuat model obesitas pada ikan zebra betina (Danio rerio).
