Pemanfaatan Sampah Plastik Menjadi Kerajinan Tangan di Bank Sampah Gema Berseri Yogyakarta

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pemanfaatan sampah plastik sebagai kerajinan tangan dalam menurunkan volume sampah plastik di Bank Sampah Gema Berseri Kelurahan Suryatmajan Yogyakarta. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bank sampah telah menerapkan prinsip reduce, reuse, dan recycle melalui pemilahan, pencucian, pengeringan, pemotongan, dan pengolahan sampah plastik menjadi tas, dompet, kantong belanja, serta hiasan bunga. Namun, tingkat pemanfaatan sampah plastik masih rendah, yaitu sekitar 1 sampai 5% dari total sampah plastik yang diterima. Kondisi ini menunjukkan adanya kesenjangan antara ketersediaan bahan baku dan kapasitas produksi. Hambatan utama meliputi kualitas bahan baku yang tidak stabil, keterbatasan alat produksi, proses kerja manual, rendahnya partisipasi masyarakat dalam pemilahan, serta pemasaran produk yang belum luas. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa kerajinan tangan dari sampah plastik memiliki potensi lingkungan, sosial, dan ekonomi. Penguatan fasilitas produksi, edukasi pemilahan, pelatihan pengrajin, inovasi desain produk, dan pemasaran digital diperlukan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas bank sampah berbasis ekonomi sirkular.
